I noticed how much energy normal conversation costs

Dear Delyara, Today I became aware of how much invisible work happens for me during ordinary conversation. Tone monitoring. Timing. Reading the room. Keeping things balanced. Making the other person comfortable enough. Deciding how true to be. Deciding how edited to be. Noticing too much. Reacting to too little. No wonder I come home tired in ways that don’t match the apparent size of the day. I think some of us spend so much energy being socially intact that we barely have any left for private life afterward. That thought stayed with me.
