I noticed how much tone matters to me

Dear Delyara, More than content, sometimes. A person can say something ordinary in the wrong tone and I’ll carry it for hours. Another can say something difficult in a softer tone and I’ll survive it much more cleanly. Tone goes straight into me in a way I can’t always defend logically. I noticed that sharply today. I don’t know whether this is sensitivity or old conditioning or just the way my nervous system is built now. I only know tone can change the whole size of a moment for me. That makes social life more tiring than it looks.
