Dear Delyara, Usually there’s a delay. I let the envelope sit there while my mind builds all the worst versions of what it could mean. The longer it sits, the larger it becomes, until I’m not opening a letter anymore. I’m confronting the whole emotional climate I’ve built around it. This week I opened it immediately. It was manageable. And because I opened it immediately, it stayed manageable. I think fear often grows in paperwork because paperwork gives it time. This time, I didn’t.
