I opened the letter, made the call, and stopped the problem growing teeth
Dear Delyara, An official letter arrived. The old version of me would have left it on the side for three days, letting it quietly poison my mood while pretending I was “waiting for the right time” to deal with it. I know that pattern now. It is fear trying to look practical. This time I opened it that day. It was exactly what I hoped it wasn’t — a money problem that required a phone call. I made the call. My voice shook at first. I still made it. I explained. I asked. I stayed on the line. I arranged the thing that needed arranging. And the strangest part was how much smaller the actual problem became once I stopped feeding it with delay. That is the lesson I keep learning in adulthood over and over: avoidance inflates pain. Action often reduces it, even if action is awkward and frightening at first. I’m proud of myself for not giving this problem three more days to grow teeth.
