Other VictoriesOvercoming Fear
I opened the letter the same day it arrived
Dear Delyara, Usually if I see an official-looking envelope, I let it sit there like a private threat. I walk past it, carry it in my head, imagine what it could be, feel my stomach tighten every time I see it on the side, and somehow allow a sealed piece of paper to ruin hours of my life before I even know what it says. This time I opened it straight away. It was manageable. Of course it was. But the real victory was not the content. It was refusing to give fear a whole evening with my imagination before reality got a turn. That felt like a genuine shift in me. A small one. A useful one. A sane one.
