I passed the course I nearly left three times

Dear Delyara, I did not pass it gracefully. I passed it tired, doubting, carrying work, family, money stress, interrupted study, and the private humiliation of being older than most of the people in the room and still wanting something enough to keep trying for it. I almost left it several times. Each time, fear dressed itself up as realism and tried to convince me that stepping away would simply be “sensible.” I stayed. When the result came through, I stared at it for a long time before it settled into my body. I had passed. Not because I was naturally confident. Because I stayed in the room long enough for effort to become evidence. That matters to me. Not just academically. Personally. Because the story I’m trying to undo is older than the course itself: that I am too late, too tired, too ordinary, too interrupted to still build new parts of myself. That story was wrong. At least in this case, I have proof.
