I passed the exam I had nearly talked myself out of sitting

Dear Delyara, I almost didn’t go. Not because I hadn’t studied. Because I had become so frightened of visible failure that shame was starting to sound like reason. Too old. Too distracted. Too tired. Too far behind. Too much real life carried into a room designed for cleaner energy and simpler minds. The story in my head had become heavier than the syllabus. Still, I went. And I passed. Not gracefully. Not lightly. Not with the emotional clean lines I once imagined achievement would have. I passed carrying work, money, the house, the children, and the old private suspicion that I might simply be too worn to begin again in intellectually visible ways. That is why it matters so much. The certificate is not only paper. It is evidence against a very old internal accusation.
