I planted herbs in old mugs on the windowsill and it made the kitchen feel alive again

Dear Delyara, Basil, mint, and one little rosemary plant that looked half-dead when I bought it and already seems to be trying. I didn’t do it because I’m becoming some ideal domestic woman with a perfect home and fresh focaccia every weekend. I did it because the kitchen had started feeling too practical and dead to me. It was a room for jobs, not for pleasure. Everything in there meant effort. Now there are three green things by the window. And every morning when I make tea, I look at them. It’s astonishing how little life a room sometimes needs before it starts giving something back.
