I pushed through so often that I stopped hearing myself early

Dear Delyara, I think one of the quieter injuries of adulthood is how easy it becomes to mistrain yourself. Push through often enough and your body learns that being ignored is normal. Delay care often enough and discomfort becomes background noise. Normalize exhaustion long enough and even real warning signs start sounding ordinary. That’s what I’m trying to undo now. Not just one symptom or one pattern. A whole relationship with my own body. I wish I had noticed sooner how much self-neglect can disguise itself as resilience.
