My Diary
I Put the Bin Out and Felt Ridiculously Free at the Gate
Dear Delyara, The bag was heavy, my hand hurt slightly from the handles, and still, walking out to the gate felt like stepping briefly outside the emotional borders of the house. No one calling. No one asking. No food. No school issue. No television noise. No invisible management. Just me, one black bin bag, and cold evening air. I know how sad that sounds. I also know how real it is. Sometimes the trip to the outside bin is the only moment in the day where I am not directly required by another human being. That should not feel luxurious. And yet some evenings it does. I stood there after dropping the bag in for a second longer than necessary, letting the night touch my face before I went back in.
