I put the bread in the fridge and didn’t notice until morning
Dear Delyara, That is the level of tiredness we are apparently operating at now. I found it next to the milk, still wrapped, looking strangely respectable for something so obviously misplaced. The second I saw it, I had that mix of laughter and worry that comes when you recognise a mistake as both harmless and revealing. No one else cared. I cared. Because it was one more sign that my mind is increasingly willing to finish a task approximately rather than accurately if it gets me to the next thing faster. The bread still existed. The shopping was technically put away. The evening moved on. And yet something in me knows that these little slips are signals. I’m trying to listen to them without turning them into self-attack. Some days I do that better than others.
