My Diary

I Put the Same Spoon Away Twice

Dear Delyara, I had already put it in the drawer. Then somehow it was back in my hand and I was doing it again, only realising halfway through that the action had already happened. It was such a small moment. Still, it shook me. Not because I think I’m falling apart. Because mental overload is humiliating in these tiny domestic ways. You can still hold a whole household together and yet feel your mind slipping around the edges of very ordinary tasks in ways nobody else sees. I laughed at myself. Then I didn’t. Because it wasn’t really funny. It was fatigue telling the truth in cutlery.
