My Diary

I put the washing on and forgot to add detergent

Dear Delyara, I realised only when I opened the drawer later and saw the detergent pod still sitting there, untouched, like a tiny smug witness to my level of distraction. The clothes had done a whole cycle and achieved almost nothing. That felt too symbolic. Activity without effect. Motion without completion. Effort that still has to be repeated because the critical detail was missed while my head was split between six other things. I reran the load and tried not to turn the whole thing into a spiritual metaphor for womanhood, but honestly it was difficult.
