My Diary
I Put Tomorrow’s Clothes Out Like a Peace Offering
Dear Delyara, Not because I enjoy being organised. Because I am trying to negotiate with the morning before it arrives. If the socks are ready, maybe no one will panic. If the shirt is there, maybe the tone will stay soft. If the shoes are by the door, maybe the house will not begin the day in that familiar rush of blame, searching, and lateness. That’s what laying out clothes feels like some mornings: not planning, but pleading. A little silent attempt to reduce tomorrow’s friction before it has the chance to form. I did it anyway. That is what mothers do. We keep making these tiny offerings to the future and hoping they will be enough.
