My Diary
I realised at 4 p.m. that I still hadn’t had lunch
Dear Delyara, That is the kind of thing that keeps happening to me now. Not because I’m trying to skip meals. Because the day fills up with other people’s needs and I keep thinking I’ll eat after this one thing, then after the next, then after school pickup, then after that call, then suddenly it’s late afternoon and my head hurts. I made toast standing in the kitchen and felt annoyed at myself in that familiar way. Not because toast was wrong. Because I had once again treated my own body like a detail that could wait. I’m getting tired of being the last person I care for in my own day.
