I realized how often I still treat my own needs like interruptions
Dear Delyara, That thought came to me this week and stayed. Not luxuries. Not indulgences. Needs. Food. Rest. Privacy. Softer timing. Distance from noise. The right not to reply immediately. The right not to keep giving after I’ve become too emotionally thin to give kindly. And still, when these needs appear, some part of me reacts as if they are interruptions to the more important business of being useful, available, composed, and externally dependable. I think that is one of the most painful inheritances a person can carry — not that they have needs, but that they experience those needs as inconvenient to their own worth. I don’t want to keep living like that. But I can still feel how deeply installed it is.
