My Diary

I Remembered Something in the Shower

Dear Delyara, The shower is where old memories return for me. Tonight it was a very small one — not a major trauma, not a dramatic event, just a humiliating moment from years ago that somehow still had enough life in it to sting. I stood there with shampoo in my hair feeling embarrassed by a version of myself that doesn’t even exist anymore. It’s amazing how the body can revisit old shame like it’s fresh. I wish memory had more mercy.
