My Diary

I remembered something old in the shower

Dear Delyara, A memory came back in the shower tonight. Not a major one. Not dramatic enough to explain why it hurt. Just one of those humiliating, painful little moments from years ago that still somehow has enough life in it to sting when it returns. The kind of memory that makes your chest tighten and your face go warm even though the version of you in the memory no longer exists. I don’t understand why certain small wounds remain so active. Maybe because shame ages differently than pain.
