I replaced the bra that hurt every time I wore it

Dear Delyara, I should have done it months ago. It dug in, sat wrong, made me irritated by lunchtime, and still I kept wearing it because it “still fit” in the technical sense and because I am apparently very willing to tolerate discomfort if it belongs to my own body. That is such an ugly habit when I see it clearly. This week I threw it away and bought one that doesn’t punish me for existing in it. That sounds small. It isn’t. Because every time I stop tolerating low-grade discomfort as if it were proof of maturity, I feel like I reclaim one tiny corner of my life from self-neglect.
