The AwakeningSelf Love

I replaced the cracked mug I hate instead of continuing to drink from it out of thrift

Dear Delyara, Again, small thing. Not small feeling. That mug has annoyed me every morning for weeks. The handle feels wrong, the crack makes it look permanently sad, and every time I reach for it I get the same quiet thought: you should replace this. And every time, the old practical voice says, it still works, don’t be silly. This week I bought a new one. Not expensive. Just clean, whole, pleasant to hold, and chosen because I liked it. That is what felt unusual. I made a decision based on liking rather than mere endurance. I’m beginning to understand how much self-love hides in the quality of what we stop forcing ourselves to put up with.
