I Rested Before I Earned It
Dear Delyara, Not after collapse. Not after the whole house was perfect. Not after every message had been answered and every domestic duty completed to some impossible moral standard. Before. I stopped while still upright. Still functional. Still with things left undone. And the world did not punish me. That mattered more than I can explain. Because so much of my life has trained me to believe that rest must be justified by visible depletion first. This week I challenged that. And the relief felt almost emotional enough to grieve. What would my life have felt like if I had learned that sooner?
