I have been that person more than once. This week, when something important was being said loosely in a corridor conversation, I heard myself say, “Can you send that to me in writing?” The room changed. Not badly. Just clearly. I think I surprised myself most. Because it was such a clean act of self-protection, with no performance around it. No over-explaining. No apology for needing clarity. Just a boundary in a professional sentence. I carried that feeling home with me all evening.
