I said “this isn’t just tired” and the whole appointment changed

Dear Delyara, Those may be the most important words I’ve said about my body in months. I am very skilled at reduction. I call things stress, busyness, age, hormones, a phase, the weather, a lot going on. All of it may be true in parts. It is also how I have avoided the full reality of what my body has been trying to tell me for too long. This week I did something different. I said it cleanly: this isn’t just tired. Then I explained. The fatigue. The flattening. The shortness of patience. The sense of emotional distance from myself by evening. The worry. The fear that I have normalised something serious because women are so often expected to. The room changed when I stopped minimising. So did the care. That felt like a victory not because I got instant answers, but because I finally stopped protecting the world from the true scale of what I was carrying in my own body.
