My Diary

I sat in the car for four minutes before going inside

Dear Delyara, The house was right there. Lights on. Family inside. Nothing terrible waiting for me. And still I stayed in the driver’s seat with the engine off because I needed one last stretch of being nobody’s answer. I knew the second I opened the door, I would become mother, wife, finder, listener, dinner-decider, and small-problem-solver all at once. Those four minutes were not laziness. They were transition. I needed them badly.
