My Diary
I sat in the dark before turning the light on
Dear Delyara, I got upstairs, sat on the edge of the bed, and didn’t switch the lamp on straight away. Not because I was sad exactly. Because the whole day had felt too bright, too entered, too full of impact. Work lights, kitchen lights, phone screen, school corridor, supermarket, car headlights, all of it. By the time I got to the bedroom, even light felt like one more thing touching me. So I sat in the dark for a few minutes with my shoes still on and my bag on the floor. That helped more than I expected. Sometimes what I need most is not a solution or a better plan. Just less sensory demand for a while. Less of the world entering me.
