My Diary
I Sat in the Driveway and Cried Before Going Inside
Dear Delyara, I got home at 6:12 and just sat there with the engine off. My groceries were in the trunk. My phone was lighting up. I could see the kitchen window from the car. I knew exactly what was waiting for me inside: dinner, questions, dishes, somebody needing a permission slip signed, somebody else asking where their charger was. And I could not make myself open the door. So I cried. Not the dramatic kind. Just the kind where tears slide down your face while you stare at your own house and wonder why the place you pay for, clean, cook in, and hold together can sometimes feel like the one place you need a break from. Then I wiped my face, grabbed the bags, and went inside like nothing happened.
