My Diary

I sat on the bed in jeans for twenty minutes

Dear Delyara, If I were fully arriving home, I would change straight away. If I were truly still busy, I would keep moving. Sitting on the bed in jeans means I am between states — too tired to continue, not settled enough to rest. That’s where I was tonight. The day had not ended inside me, only around me. And I think those in-between minutes reveal more than I want them to sometimes. They show me how long it takes for the emotional body to catch up with the physical one. The front door can close, but the nervous system is still halfway elsewhere. Eventually I changed, washed my face, dimmed the room. But those twenty minutes said a lot.
