My Diary

I sat on the edge of my bed fully dressed because changing felt like one effort too many

Dear Delyara, That’s one of my signals now. When even getting into softer clothes feels difficult, I know the day has gone far enough. There is a very particular kind of exhaustion where the body doesn’t want to move toward comfort because comfort itself requires one more transition. Take the earrings off, hang the clothes up, wash the face, choose the pyjamas, do the small little rituals of evening. None of it is hard. All of it can feel impossible when you have already spent the whole day moving in service of other things. So I sat there fully dressed for twenty minutes, staring at the wardrobe. Eventually I changed. But I respected the pause. It was telling the truth.
