My Diary

I sat on the floor because the chair felt too official

Dear Delyara, I know how strange that sounds. But tonight the chair made me feel like I still had to hold myself together properly. Sit upright. Stay composed. Be a person having a reasonable evening. The floor felt more honest. Less formal. Less like I owed life good posture. So I sat there for a while with my back against the sofa and felt, for the first time all day, slightly less arranged. Maybe that’s what I needed. Not comfort exactly. Informality. Somewhere my body could stop behaving like it was still being watched.
