I saw care where I used to see only clumsiness

Dear Delyara, A parent did something recently that, a few years ago, I would have experienced only as irritating or emotionally awkward. This time, I saw the care under it. Not perfect care. Not the exact language I wish they spoke. But still care. That shift surprised me. It doesn’t erase what hurt in the past. It doesn’t rewrite history into something cleaner than it was. It just means I can now notice effort in forms I used to dismiss too quickly because the wrapping wasn’t soft enough. I think that kind of seeing is a quieter form of gratitude. And a mature one.
