My Diary

I saw my husband washing up and nearly cried from how tired I actually was

Dear Delyara, He was only washing the plates. That’s what made it so revealing. Nothing grand. No speech. No apology. No big rescue. Just my husband standing at the sink doing the plates while I sat at the table for one extra minute and felt this absurd wave of emotion move through me. I think what hit me was not gratitude alone. It was exposure. The body knows when it has reached a point where one ordinary kindness lands like relief too large for the moment that delivered it. That is where I was tonight. Not falling apart. Not dramatic. Just overused enough that one less task felt like mercy in my chest. I covered it with a normal voice. Inside, it wasn’t normal at all.
