I Sent the Proposal Before I Felt Ready
Dear Delyara, If I had waited to feel fully ready, it would still be sitting in drafts next month. I know myself. I know how ambition and fear braid themselves together in me until “careful” starts sounding like “stuck.” I know how easy it is to call my hesitation professionalism, timing, strategy, discernment, refinement. Sometimes it is. A lot of the time it’s just fear dressed for work. So I sent it. My chest hurt when I hit send. My palms went cold. And underneath all of that, there was this fierce little pulse of self-respect because I finally understood something: movement does not require emotional perfection. I don’t know what they’ll say. That matters less than I expected. What matters is that, for once, I chose the life I want over the comfort of not being seen trying.
