My Diary

I slept badly because tomorrow was already in the room

Dear Delyara, Uniforms, timing, one awkward work conversation waiting for me, one school payment still in my head, one health concern I hadn’t fully named, one reminder I was scared to forget. All of it came upstairs with me. That is what I miss most, maybe. The ability to end a day properly. These days so many nights feel like the future arriving before the present has even had the dignity of finishing. I lay there tired enough to sleep and still mentally arranging the next morning like furniture in the dark. No wonder I woke up tired. Tomorrow had already started before I closed my eyes.
