GratitudeInner Peace
I spent an afternoon with no bad news and no one crying
Dear Delyara, That may sound too plain to count as a victory, but if you knew the last year we’ve had, you would understand. No hospital calls. No family drama. No financial shock. No argument. No forms to urgently fill in. No hidden disaster arriving at 4:47 p.m. just as dinner is half-made and the children are tired. Just one plain, undecorated afternoon. I folded washing in the sunlight. My daughter did homework at the table without needing help every four minutes. The house was ordinary. I was ordinary. Nothing dramatic entered us. I used to overlook days like that. Now I know better. Peace is not empty. Peace is expensive. And yesterday we were rich in it for a few hours.
