I stared at the laundry basket like it was a personality test
Dear Delyara, I know how ridiculous that sounds. It was just laundry. And still, for a moment, it became everything — evidence that life keeps accumulating faster than I am metabolizing it, proof that there is always one more practical thing waiting to be handled, another reminder that domestic life never really ends, it just rotates. I think when I’m already emotionally stretched, ordinary mess becomes symbolic. The basket stops being clothes and starts feeling like a quiet accusation. Not because it truly is one. Because my nervous system is too tired to let things remain neutral. Eventually I picked it up and dealt with it. Not heroically. Just enough. Some victories are so small they look like chores. But they still cost energy the body had to go find somewhere.
