I started going outside before I let the phone touch my nervous system

Dear Delyara, It’s one minute. Maybe two. I open the back door before I unlock the screen. I feel the air. I look at the sky. I notice the light, the weather, whether the birds sound close or far away. That is all. And still it has changed my mornings more than most larger things have. I hadn’t realised how harsh it had become to let messages, work, school reminders, money, and the whole digital world enter my body before my own inner life had properly stood up for the day. No wonder I felt ambushed before breakfast so often. Now there is air first. Then the world. That order feels kinder. It has made me less immediately defensive inside my own life. I think that matters more than it sounds like it should.
