I Started Listening Earlier

Dear Delyara, My health victory is not dramatic enough to impress anyone, and maybe that’s why it matters so much to me. I started listening before my body had to scream. I went to the appointment. I took the symptom seriously. I rested before collapse. I stopped treating pain like an inconvenience and fatigue like a personality flaw. I am from a family of people who endure too much and call it strength. I know that pattern well. Stepping outside it felt rebellious. Now I’m trying to build a different relationship with my body — one where I do not wait for complete breakdown before offering care.
