I started opening the back door before I open my phone

Dear Delyara, Just for one minute. Air first. Light first. Sky first. Birds if there are birds. Cold if it’s cold. Rain if it’s raining. Before messages, before school reminders, before money, before news, before being reached by other people’s urgency, I let one natural thing reach me first instead. That one minute has changed more than I expected. The mornings feel less like an ambush. My body feels less immediately claimed. I hadn’t realised how much harm I was doing by letting the digital world enter my nervous system before my own inner life had fully stood up for the day. It’s such a small shift. It feels like a real kind of mercy.
