I started watching the sky before I look at my phone
Dear Delyara, It sounds tiny. It changed something real. For years, my mornings have started with immediate entry — messages, headlines, school reminders, money, work, the whole world already touching me before my own body had fully arrived back in itself. I didn’t realise how violent that had become until I interrupted it. Now I go to the window first. Just for a minute. Sky, weather, light, clouds, whether the morning feels sharp or soft. That’s all. No one talks enough about how much damage is done by letting the digital world into your nervous system before your own inner life has even stood up for the day. That one-minute change has made me less ambushed in the morning. Less reactive. Less immediately consumed. It isn’t magic. It is gentler. That is enough.
