I stayed through the craving

Dear Delyara, Tonight I stayed through a craving without dramatizing it and without obeying it. That is new enough to feel worth writing down. The craving came like an old language — familiar, persuasive, emotionally intelligent in all the wrong ways. It offered relief, distance, interruption. For a few minutes, it sounded kind. I did not follow it. I waited. Moved around. Breathed. Drank water. Let it crest and fall. I’m learning that the body can want one thing while the self chooses another. That feels like freedom growing.
