The WeightPast Wounds
I still apologise before I understand what actually happened
Dear Delyara, A room shifts, someone sounds off, I feel tension, and before I’ve even properly examined whether I have done anything wrong, I can feel myself moving toward apology. As if peace matters more than truth. As if keeping other people comfortable is still the safest route, even at the expense of my own clarity. That pattern has cost me so much. It makes me easier to blame and harder to hear. And the worst part is that it still feels emotionally sensible in the moment because it was built in rooms where danger did once follow misunderstanding. But I’m tired of bringing that old logic into new conversations and calling it being kind.
