I still apologise too quickly when the room feels even slightly tense

Dear Delyara, It is almost automatic. If the air changes, if someone’s tone sharpens, if I sense even a little misattunement, I start moving toward apology before I have fully worked out whether I’ve actually done anything wrong. That reflex came from somewhere. I know that. Still, it frustrates me. It means my body would often rather take the blame than sit inside uncertainty long enough to discover the truth. That is not peace. It is old survival.
