The WeightGuilt
I still feel guilty when I choose peace before usefulness
Dear Delyara, That order feels morally suspicious to some old part of me. Peace first. Then usefulness. Not because I want to become selfish. Because I am beginning to understand that peace is often what keeps usefulness humane. But guilt still interrupts that understanding. It still tells me that the better person would have answered, helped, stayed accessible, pushed through, sacrificed the quieter option. I am tired of that voice. Not because it is loud. Because it sounds reasonable enough to keep winning. Tonight I want to remember that choosing peace is not abandoning responsibility. Sometimes it is the only way to keep responsibility from becoming resentment.
