I still feel small when I have to say money is tight
Dear Delyara, Even when it is simply true. Even when it is sensible. Even when there is no moral failing in it at all. Something in me still shrinks around that sentence. It makes me feel younger in the worst way. Less secure, less solid, less like the adult I’m trying to be in the world. I know intellectually that many good people struggle with money at different points. I still feel the shame physically when I have to name it out loud. That is the part I want to change. Not reality always. My relationship with reality. Because money pressure is hard enough without humiliation attached to it.
