I still feel younger than I am in some family conversations

Dear Delyara, Certain tones still do that to me. A certain kind of disapproval, a certain interruption, a certain style of correction, and my whole emotional age drops in seconds. I start explaining too much. I stop trusting my own reading of the situation. I move from grounded adult to cautious younger self so fast it feels humiliating afterward. That is the power of old family patterns. They do not need permission from the present to stay active in the body. I come home from those conversations tired in a way the actual content never fully explains.
