The BondDivorce
I still grieve the ordinary parts
Dear Delyara, When people think about divorce, they often imagine the big emotions. What still gets me are the ordinary losses. The rhythm of another person in the house. The unconscious knowing of each other’s timing. The practical companionship. The small shared witnesses to a day. The invisible structure of being expected by someone. I know the ending was necessary. That doesn’t stop me from grieving the ordinary shape that disappeared with it. The body misses routine in very tender ways.
