I still grieve the shape of shared routine
Dear Delyara, The thing I miss is not always the person as a whole. Sometimes it is the shape of shared routine. Another body in the room. Someone else’s timing brushing against mine. The ordinary witness of a day. The small practical companionship of two lives folded around each other. I think people underestimate how deeply the body mourns routine once it has learned it. Even necessary endings leave empty architecture behind. That architecture still echoes in me sometimes.
