The BondParents

I still long for emotional fluency from people who were never given it

Dear Delyara, That sentence feels painfully true. I know my parents did not have the language I wanted. I know what shaped them, what narrowed them, what made practical care easier for them than emotional precision. I know all that. And still, the longing remains. Not for perfection. Just for a little more softness that arrives in words my nervous system recognizes without effort. A little more “I see you” and less translation required. I can understand their limits and still ache at their consequences. That is the complexity I live with.
