The BondDivorce
I still miss having someone at the end of the day
Dear Delyara, Not just someone in the house. Someone mine. Someone I could turn to with the dull, unglamorous truths of the day — the annoying work moment, the odd feeling in my chest, the way the school run drained me, the little joke I wanted to repeat before it got old, the simple relief of putting the children to bed and finally exhaling. Divorce doesn’t only remove the obvious things. It removes that quiet place where daily life used to land. And yes, sometimes I still feel that absence at night in a way that hurts more than the larger memories do. Not because I want the old relationship back exactly. Because I miss being emotionally expected somewhere. That is a different grief. And it has not left.
