I still miss the ordinary companionship more than the story

Dear Delyara, The narrative of it matters less now than the ordinary losses. The second cup. The other body in the room. The practical witness to the day. Someone to ask the small question. Someone whose timing folds around yours in all the minor unspoken ways you stop noticing until they’re gone. I don’t miss the relationship exactly as it was. I miss the architecture of everyday companionship. That’s the grief that still surprises me sometimes.
